A bull elk tips the scales at about 1000 pounds, correct? I, too, like to know how he got that beast into such a tiny vehicle.
The attached image is of the antlers of a huge elk taken from 810 yards with a .300WinMag. Notice how they are pretty much as wide as the bed on a full-size pickup. I didn't shoot this beast; the hunter was in the parking lot of my local Mickey D's and I had to ask the particulars about the kill. You can see it in the picture, but the antlers are about six feet high. I don't know much about what makes for a "real" trophy, but I would bestow such a title on this one.
