The Daily Universe is the official student newspaper for Brigham Young University. If it's such a significant event, why is it only listed in that newspaper? Is there a feature paper in Provo, Salt Lake City? Does the Provo Herald Extra have reporters? What political lean does the Universe have, neutral, moderate, conservative, liberal, socialist? Why is this task force happening in Utah, do they have a murder problem? A suicide problem? A terrorist problem? Who's paying the bill for the research?

Sounds to me like it's just a bunch of bureaucrats pushing meaningless papers around. The way to reduce gun violence is to ramp-up policing, and to make quite painful the penalties for using a firearm in the commission of a crime. When I was a kid, my dad used to teach me the error of my ways by folding his 48" belt in half and laying it across my bare obama with great speed and force. I never got a whippin' for doing the same thing twice. I so well-learned that pain accompanied bad behavior that I have never smoked dope nor have I ever been arrested.

    humm, let's see now...

    * ATF 25 June 18 press release: Law Enforcement Officials Announce the Formation of the Utah Crime Gun Intelligence Center | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
    * UT DPS 25 June 18 press release: Law enforcement officials announce the formation of the Utah Crime Gun Intelligence Center
    * Deseret News 25 June 18 article: 'A force multiplier': Utah law enforcers announce new center to investigate gun crimes
    * Standard-Examiner 25 June 18 article: State announces new intelligence center to combat gun violence

Perhaps the kind students at the Daily Universe didn't understand the newsworthiness of the press releases nor news articles all dated 45 days earlier?

They should start giving away free safes, that way when criminals come to steal guns they'll be locked up
