Can you recommend a good gunsmith? I don't live too far from Fallon. Will need a barrel threaded and chambered to end-up as a pre-fit for my chassis rifle. I want the diameter at the muzzle to be something that none of the outfits who make pre-fits will do. It's their way or you don't get a barrel from them. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info...

I want a pre-fit barrel for my Zermatt Arms TL3 action, having a muzzle diameter of 0.860 inches. I've looked at many pre-fits by various makers and they do not have a muzzle diameter that I want. I came-up with the idea of having a barrel blank made with the dimensions I want, then have the breech end threaded and chambered to fit the cartridge I have chosen. Seems to me to be the only way I'm going to get what I want. I have had two custom barrels made for me in the past. I recommend Hart Barrels; they will make for a customer exactly what he wants...

I'm not sure he does custom barrel making, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'll have the barrel made per my contour design. I'm just looking for a good gunsmith to thread the butt per the requirements of a pre-fit barrel, and to chamber it.

I looked on eBay yesterday and saw an opportunity to buy the barrels a retired gunsmith in Arizona has up for sale. He has oodles of them: Different bores, different lengths and different contours-- and at prices that will have you reaching for your debit card RIGHT NOW! He didn't have what I want, so I had to pass. There were $800 barrels going for $200. Many were brand-new; never threaded nor chambered.
