I can already "make" my own Glock or AR if I am so moved. Is there some reason this is a pressing issue?

I heard about the "kits" you assemble yourself last summer. Looked into them and they were a buck or two cheaper. I had an issue with them as they have no numbers, hence being called Ghost Guns.
I surmised that a situation could evolve where having a legal unnumbered gun would/could create a firestorm for me. So I passed. 3D printing is not much different. Are they single use? Can not imagine they would hold up to my favorite 45 acp round for very long. I see it as a fad.
