    Personally, as a failed student and the 'son of a culture' that thought of skilled labor as "Little People" I must say that I have never felt more rewarded than when I could use my own manual skills, learnt on my own, untutored and un- mentored, mind and brawn to help myself and especially others.
    I am greatful for being Born in America, the only advantage I ever needed in life.

    I agree fully with your argument, however when employers look at your resume, they are looking for formal education. Respect comes slowly for the Mustang and self educated...But, it is earned the hard way!!
