It never ceases to amaze me that people who have a govt issued id and forum presence online and a smartphone peacock up at showing said ID for crap. It's laughable that you think your privacy rights are being violated. The 2nd amendment applies to govt not to me.
Every bought from an FFL? You think the govt doesn't have your info? I wouldn't ask for ID from a forum member. It would be so easy for law enforcement to track that down if one of my former weapons showed up at a crime scene. Your bristling cracks me up! 🤣
Even an FFL making a legitimate sale doesn't get to copy your ID--keep making up your own rules & you'll turn into a progressive:s0124:

Once I buy a gun, it's a permanent part of my belongings. For those who are selling, it's their property and they can specify whatever requirements they want for the terms of the sale and the buyer can either agree or walk away.

In our current societal conditions, what with the litigious nature of the citizenry and all levels of government weaponizing law "enforcement" by either switching it "on" or "off, and perverting the application thereof as it suits their political agendas, and permanent computer files all linked to all levels of jurisdiction…. You can't hardly blame someone for wanting some sort of "bill if sale" to cover their arse.

As for someone's place of residence, I (currently) live in Oregon (have for over 54yrs), and I'm ANYTHING BUT a statist, big-government loving "progressive"….

LIVE FREE OR DIE! :s0118:

A Bill of Sale is one thing (& plenty of would-be buyers will walk over that) but taking a picture of a buyer's ID is BS--No way are people supposed to be making up their own rules

As a seller it's not something I would choose to do either, but that's just me. I too, wouldn't make the purchase under those conditions.

There's MILLIONS of other guns out there to choose from, I'd keep looking if I'm "dead-set" on a particular item.

Feels to me like what you are loosely saying is I should follow my Ebay rules and simply not buy from people who go ahead and decide to make up their own rules for selling & that's fine if that's what you wanna do but it pisses me off when somebody simply decides it's OK to take a dump on Arizona's long-held rules.

People who wanna move to my State and make up their own rules suck!

Maybe you should look up the definition of Liberty. I have the right to do whatever I want to do you may not agree with it and that's your freedom to do so but there is no rule about Private sales as far as it's coming from the private seller. They can make their own rules.

The idea and the lengths at which you are willing to badger other people to follow your literally made up rules makes you a tyrant not a freedom loving individual. By all means keep your rant going.

I do the same thing with businesses that want me to wear a mask. I will not shop there. You have the same exact right, the business has the right to ask or require and you have the right to go somewhere else if you don't want to abide by their rules. That's how the free market works.

The actual 'free market' already has a list of legally binding rules for Federally Licensed dealers--You have no right to begin making up your own fake rules

You can either argue that it's a private sale and there are no real rules. Or you can argue regulations for an FFL. You can't mix and match however you want to and come up with your own rules that's idiotic.
I quite literally can make up my own rules as a private firearm seller and to argue otherwise is not only idiotic but substantially self aggrandizing. Your opinion means absolutely nothing to me in fact your opinion on anything after this discussion would mean absolutely nothing to less than nothing to me. You have an inability to think linearly or logically. I'm out.

billdeserthill is a glans penis. I blocked him many, many moons ago. What he writes seemed to me to be just to incite arguments and irritation within these pages.

If you blocked him, how do you know what he is saying ?
If you are reading his posts, why did you block him ?
I have no idea what he is writing because I put him on Ignore a long, long while ago. I am not reading his posts-- because I put him on Ignore a long, long while ago.

billdeserthill seemingly wanted to argue with anything anybody posted. To put it very simply, he'd argue that the die thrown in a casino had more than six sides if somebody posted that it did have six sides. I very quickly remembered that it's never wise to argue with a fool because a fool will drag you down to his level and clobber you with his vast experience...

Hopin' this doesn't get my assets in trouble with the Mods...

Personally I would not take a load of firewood without a receipt, But there is no law that says you have too. I sure would not take a firearm [ with a serial number] without one!
If someone balked and would not give any info I'd put my money back in my pocket and move on. It's a sign that something is not right.
If it was a buyer that did not want to give any info , without any info they would be free to move on!
I have bought and sold a lot of guns over the years, Most of them on construction sites. As far as I know I have never gotten one that was stolen, But I have refused to buy some where the seller would not give any information. Those are my rules and I have the Freedom to live by them!

Coming from someone in california , this doesn't surprise me one bit.
Come to a free state and you will see how the free market is actually supposed to work.

I don't see this as a Free state difference. I have lived in several free states including AZ. And I lived in CA long before their obsession with gun laws!
Again You are free to do as you please, I would not! And that was the Question asked by the OP!
I also would not buy or sell a car or truck without some ID showing who I'm dealing with. These are things that can come back to bite you! DR
