Huggy,
You're not being a dick to me. Besides, I have really thick skin. The Sheriff told me it was 100% legal to carry my AR like that a month ago.....???? I'm new down here and ask questions to keep my bubblegum outta trouble not get in it. Easy fix though, take my mag out ( never carried it loaded, personal smartness on my side ) problem solved. Thanks for your insight.
Campmeat, good to hear you've gotten a read on the topic but the typical LEO might not be aware of G&F Laws (only reason I was is because I hunt amd was a cop so I looked in to it) so I'd highly recommend you stop in St the G&F local office and ask to speak with an older officer who would be better informed.
Game laws in AZ can be pretty goofy. By law, if you are arrested for a game violation, they can seize your guns AND automobile, too, along with fines. So better to ask the questions before unwittingly breaking the law.
Good Luck, Pardner.

Thanks for all the suggestions presented thus far! I'll look into those locations mentioned, plus I still need to work on my wife a bunch and maybe take her on a road trip to prove to her that; 1 AZ isn't all desert and blazing hot like Phoenix. 2 That could live there in a smaller town and be close enough to a larger (under 50k population) within a hour drive. Right now I live 40 minutes from work but our valley here has too many peeps in it anymore about 200k. Ugh! 3. AZ gun laws are much better than OR, our Socialist government keeps adding to them yearly along with new taxes almost every year.

I bugged my wife for 4 years. Finally, last year she took a month off and drove down here to AZ for the month. I wanted to live in Seligman at first, but a MIL came into the picture, unbeknownst to me. Yuma is way too hot and when the wind blows, it's a sand storm. Now she loves it down here. Neither of us work though. AND my MIL loves it too at 90.

Ah, SO!
Seligman. My favorite place to go and murder, er, shoot, Prairie Doggies!
Hoping to head up there next month, in fact. YIPPEE!

I really liked Seligman. Chicken fried steak was great at one of the food places there. I hadn't lived near a city in 29 years, so even this was a little unusual moving here to Tubac.

Pima county isn't too bad, if outside of the city limits. I live in 3 Points about 15 miles s.w. of town. Nice area if you want to be left alone. Cheap property, and taxes. There are nearby wildcat places to shoot. Not legal but has been going on for years. There is a great range less than 10 miles away. Tucson Rifle Club. I think $60.00 a year for a couple. Tucson is close enough for work and shopping but far enough away at the same time. Another area also west of town is Picture Rocks. Same mix as 3 Points. Everything from run down single sides, to really nice homes. Cheap land prices too. I can drive to Tucson in 25 min., and to Phoenix in 2 hours.

I'm thinking of moving in the next couple of years to AZ and am I looking for suggestions. I would like an area where the housing market is inexpensive and not in town or a large town, I will need to work but if I'm completely debt free I'm not too concerned about making wages, just something to pay for monthly bills and gun money :)

So let hear your suggestion and the reason why.

Thanks

The post title should be: Suggestions of where to move in AZ:oops:

First thing you need to know is Arizona is a 'right to work' state. In my 45+ years living here
that has translated to no employer will pay you very well. I have been self-employed since 1990
so I no longer fit into that category, but for many of my friends living here means low wages

I live in Cave Creek, but I have also lived in phoenix, tempe & mesa--All these places get too
damn hot in the summertime. My parents got tired of that and they went ahead and got two
residences. One is in morristown, near Wickenburg and when it gets too hot they go on up
to Prescott. Neither residence cost them too much, in fact the house in Morristown is a modular
that they just plunked down on a piece of land--kinda off the grid, yet it is close to the larger
town of Wickenburg.

Is the TRC worth while ? I have long range guns and want to shoot them to a 1000 yards plus.

Thanks....
I like TRC. A Lot of folks drive out from Tucson to shoot. Really low key. No range masters. Common since and cooperation among shooters. A five minute indoctrination and off you go.

You also have the county range near the Pima County Fairground. Limited open schedule and a lot of qualified range masters, and I believe they have 1000 foot ranges, too. I live in Green Valley and actually think county range is closer. It's definitely newer.

I just received my shipping equipment back from Rio Rico! I didn't know where Tubac was so I looked it up, to bad I can't go setup the equipment any more! I need to see more of AZ

I work setup equipment for Harry and David, and the Fruit of the Month club which goes to were the the best fruit is grown, so I send down servers, shipping lines and workstations. My last pack was at Rio Rico. I used to travel a lot more out to those sites, doing updates and setting up new facilities. Now I get stuck at my desk working remotely

Love it here. I consider Phoenix and it's "problems/issues" totally pale in comparison to the Atlanta metro area, which is a maelstrom. However, we had wanted the Verde Valley area for some time and ATL was the sacrifice to make it happen sooner than later. Where we are now reminds me of how cool places like Ramona, Julian, and Idylwild used to be (lots of very fine folks there still, but CA is just unfun nowadays).

The wide-open spaces, clean air, and decent people (in general) are awesome here. There are some liberal hacks, to be sure, as well as the touristans. But I do love the red rocks.
