wow that bumper strong Btw that telephone pole in back ground is defunct no wires old also

. . . Corsairs did not have bumpers in the pics that I have seen.
If I remember my history well enough, this aircraft served mostly in the Pacific Theater. I read a little about it a few weeks ago. Seems the gull wings allowed for a shorter landing gear to swing the big prop, as well as allowed the wings to be folded to get more units onto an aircraft carrier. If anyone knows more about this fabulous aircraft, please jump in and let us all know...

I got Pappy Boyington's autograph on an F4u's picture. Boyington was in the Flying Tigers before the Black Sheep squadron. The French & Brits flew some, some had 3 bladed props, and some were Marines' and never saw carrier duty.

I also had a '65 Corvair Turbo Corsa Spyder that was pretty quick. Yenko's fist race rigs were Corvairs, "Stingers". PAX
