The solution to suicides involving firearms is decidedly simple: Just pass a law that prohibits suicides with a firearm. Should work as well as laws that prohibit robberies and murders with firearms.

I had an uncle who committed suicide with a firearm in May 2017. He served with Dick Winters in Easy Company during WW II, so he knew immediate danger and how to survive under hazardous conditions. His wife died of cancer a little more than two weeks before he committed suicide in the garage of his vacation home. The death of his wife was too much for him; he was also diagnosed with mesothelioma. We surmise that he decided to just end it, rather than die a painful death of cancer. He left several kids and his two remaining brothers behind. He was one true example of a real man. There aren't too many of his generation left...
