I'm new to the Western states and have the opportunity to live in Texas or New Mexico and have a 40 min commute to work. Is there a benefit to living in Texas over New Mexico for hunting? I want to bird hunt and hunt mule deer, antelope and pigs.

All land in Texas is basically private and you either need to know someone or find a lease you can get then you can hunt pretty much every season. I lived in Texas for 30 years and I now live in New Mexico. If you want to hunt in New Mexico you will have to put in for the draw every year and hope you get drawn for whatever you are wanting to hunt. Since you are that close to the border you kinda have the best of both worlds. Draw fees are much higher for out of state residence in New mexico. Something to consider
