Got this old Marlin 1898, i think, from my uncle awhile back. I have never shot it, and he didnt know anything about it when he gave it to me. It cycles fine and the trigger is very nice. No clue what these go for, so Ill just throw out $400 OBO

Wit out seeing the other side of the gun I can tell you that it appears that the magazine has incorrect or rigged up parts where it attaches to the barrel . Which would make very hard to break it down as intended. I restored one like it in the 70's and went though hell making and brazing parts for that very part. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane !

The good news is that based on the serial number you may be able to determine the age and it may qualify as and antique, not subject to ownership and sales rules as we know them for modern firearms
Someone might want it for wall hanger to decorate their man cave , good luck
