It's a very sad day for PPD. The incident that prompted a yes vote was an officer that used excessive profanity during an altercation. No other officers stepped in to control the situation. To be clear, the suspects used the same vocabulary and most certainly were not offended by the officer. The citizens that watched the video on the evening news were very offended. Be that as it may, the incident was investigated by the department and corrective action was taken (agree or disagree). No oversight was necessary. Because the officer was unable to control his tongue and the news media refused to air the details leading up to the incident, a repeat felon and his cohorts went free and won the "Ghetto Lottery". You can thank the PPD Chief for not setting the record straight. She went on record apologizing for the officer's actions and promising more "diversity training" for the entire PPD.

A simple, "I apologize for the language used by my officer during a high-stress, felony arrest. All officers will be reminded of our No Profanity policy. The incident will be reviewed by our use of force board."
