Silver Bullets to compliment my Colt SAA .44-40.

I bought molds to make some for .45 Colt but don't have a mold for .44-40 bullets. It takes just over an ounce of silver to make two 250 grain bullets about 30 $ currently.

I took 44 Magnum "SilverTips" and loaded up in my 44-40. They are .430's if I recall correctly...so use accordingly. Do not use any of the following load data, for rifle discussion purposes only.

If you are actually going to shoot these, you might look at electroplate equipment [ can be done with a car battery] There are lots of U tube video's on this. You can plate the cases and bullets. The bullets would then load like a copper plated bullet.[ like Berry's or Extreme]. You will want to use new dies that have polished internals to not scratch the plating. If you are shooting solid silver, I want to mine your berm! Good Luck DR

At FIRST, I thought that it was a simple mistake. Maybe, when he said "silver bullets". Maybe he actually meant to say "lead bullets"?

SASS is limited to lead bullets only.

I used to mail order my lead bullets from a guy in ME though he sold off his equipment and is currently "out of business". Anyway......I found a new supplier for my lead CB bullets in OR.

But since you want the "real deal silver". Well sorry.

Aloha, Mark

So I've made real silver bullets in the past, the best way to do it, is to turn your silver metal into a silver bar, and then cut the bullet out on a lathe. Casting tends to not work too well due to the high melting temperature, and the thermal expansion that goes with it. Most lead bullet molds are oversized to account for this, which is one of the reasons why sizing is one of the processes required.
