What the newspeek WP Op-ed article doesn't tell readers is the gallup poll states, the percentage has dropped six (6) percentage point since march!!! Quote:

The current reading is similar to the 60% measured last fall after the Las Vegas mass shooting. Unquote

All in all, it is another newspeek media as well as gallup's mentality to keep the subject alive and in front of this nation's citizenry via shock & awe headlines citing misleading statistics to propagate propaganda and increase sales volume.
