I went out to the desert the other day and popped-off about 220 rounds of .223Rem that were about 2.0 grains overcharged. It felt good to hear the sound (through my earplugs) and feel the recoil after so many weeks of not firing a weapon. The powder was H322 and smelled really unusual; I've never smelled a burned powder that had a smell anything like did that H322. I'd loaded-up around 2500 of these overcharged shells way back in January of 2011. I've fired-off a lot of them over the intervening eight years, but still had these 200-some to waste. Too much trouble to pull the crimped-in bullets, so I just shot them at a large rock 492 yards away. Now that I've burned the powder, expended the primers and shot the bullets, I get to reload the cases with components that were bought several years ago. So I bought the reloading components four and five years ago, but I'll be "spending" that money in these coming days in reloading the spent cases.

I am going to try making some grips myself using casting resin and shavings from my case trimmer. I also have some walnut, Maple and Apricot wood to experiment with. Something to do on a cold winter day.

Got my custom made Northtech Defense (NTD) upper (blasted finish ready for cerakoting) in the mail today, matching an older NTD lower. I now have all the parts to assemble a great pistol with a 8½" NTD precision .300 BLK barrel and the piston kit from Adams Arms. :)

Removed the mount and red dot, disassembled and cleaned. Actually it was spotless with only 50 rounds down the pipe. I'm sure the PO cleaned it.

Installed a Brass guide rod buffer and waiting on a new mount that hopefully will work with my Holoson 510C-GR. Shoved in a 23 round magazine.

No regrets buying this piece.
