Basing national firearms policy on fiction spy movies is hardly the way we should legislate and our nation's more than 100 million law-abiding firearms owners deserve better from their elected officials. The senator is ignoring clear facts; that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives considered recommending moving suppressor regulation from the 1934 National Firearms Act to the 1968 Gun Control Act because of the rarity in which they are used in crimes. From 1995-2005, less than 0.1% of homicides in federal court, an infinitesimally low 0.00006% of felonies in California and a mere 0.1% of armed robberies involved a suppressor. The ATF noted in an unpublished 2017 White Paper that an average of just 44 cases involving suppressors per year over a 10 year period were recommended for prosecution. In fact, many of the European countries which Senator Menendez looks to as an example of strict gun laws require the use of a suppressor and they are available over the counter in hardware stores.

From the article. My question is out of those suppressors used in a crime of any kind. How many of them were hand made or not legal?

Not a huge surprise that Bob Menendez is part of this next round of idiocy. And there it is: The prehistoric mantra of "If it saves one life," or a variation of it...

Imagine how many lives could be saved by banning cell phones or cars?
It will never be possible to ban cellphones or cars. The Criminal Left Media uses both; they are never going to gin-up hatred for something they themselves use. But firearms are entirely different. Firearms ownership can be politicized with just a few words on a few nightly newscasts and before you know it, we have "a movement" working against a very basic Liberty deeply engraved into our Constitution. D'you remember how rapidly George H. W. Bush instituted the 90-day embargo on the type of rifle Patrick Purdy used to kill those grade school kids in Stockton in 1989? It was maybe a day, if not even twelve hours. Was just a few days or so before anybody who owned whatever he used, as well as owners of the AR-type rifle, was branded to be the worst form of human who ever breathed oxygen. The anti-Freedom media milked and lied and exaggerated the story from any and every angle, much of it being pure bullschumer. Hardly mattered-- they had a story... that if they worked it right... was certain to end private firearms ownership in the US. Thirty years on, it didn't end-up that way-- but you can be absolutely sure the Forces of Tyranny were working such that it would.

Reagan said it best when he said that Liberty is not passed-along in the bloodstream. We have to protect it every minute of every day, lest the opposition steal it from us by any means necessary. We must all vote in November 2020 for the candidate who supports our Constitution and if I may be so political, that candidate is not among those who promise to give us everything we ever wanted at no charge...
