Arizona Arizona Senator Jeff Flake moves to tighten gun purchases

After years of inaction, the Senate will consider new gun control measures with the introduction by Senators Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) of legislation designed to ensure people with a history of domestic violence cannot buy a gun.

Edna Welsheimer, the executive director of the Time Out Shelter, said she agrees with Flake's legislation, especially since gun violence due to domestic violence has affected Rim Country. In 2012, local Realtor Marjeane Easley died when her husband shot her and then killed himself while the two were in the middle of a bitter divorce.

"(What) was in my mind was the local Realtor that was shot and died as a result of DV," she said.


But Welsheimer wishes Flake's legislation would go further."I agree with the bill Senator Flake is trying to pass," said Welsheimer. "My thoughts are that these people still have a way to get guns illegally and that another loophole to close to me would be to set hefty fines for friends, relatives, thieves ... etc. that willfully obtain guns knowing darn well that the person they give it to should not have possession."

They will not stop until there are either no more people - or no more guns. They don't enforce the laws we already have.... So adding yet another will now make it extra against the law? A prohibited possessor is already breaking the law. Buying for or giving a gun to a PP is already against the law. Enforce existing laws.

Flake is one of the biggest disappointments this state has seen in a long time. My rep is the Communist raul grijalva. The only elected official to boycott the ones that elected him Typical Democrat. Ya know, anti gun, a fighter for open borders, animal rights, and full term abortion while busy on the goals of communism. Let's not forget he is also co-chairman of the American Socialist Party and member of MEChA, dedicated to the violent overthrow of the South West all the way to Washington Tired of writing Raul telling him about different parts of the Constitution he had never read i followed Flake. He had me fooled. He flipped faster than McCain. Not as far an McCain, just faster. Flake didn't vote for obama.
