Misleading title - we have had private sales with no interference since before we became a state. The state just wisely decided that it wasn't their business as long as the laws wee followed, and if you didn't, then you would pay the price. This new laws says no background checks for private transfers or private property - and they all go down if Bloomers manages to get his background check initiative on the ballot/approved by gullible voters in 2018, as voter initiatives override state laws. We would need another Constitutional Amendment or some seriously educated voters.

I live in Tucson home of the largest scared liberal rabbit population, at least in government on the planet. Can not sell on City property WITH OUT background checks. There is a 20 day waiting period for ALL used guns through dealers so that they can be checked out by the local authorities. This waiting period does not apply to NEW gun sales.
All of the good gun shows avoid the area. I do not even go anymore. Even the one at the Pima county grounds is PALE in comparison to any thing in Phoenix or the area. When Gabby Giffords got shot there was a gun show at the Pima County grounds. The news crews descended and were filming the interviews just out side the building. They got upset when I pulled my 45 and pointed it at the camera. Security was called, the news crew screamed. I just stood there and when asked said "where are my rights" , I did not ask to be on tv nor do I want to be filmed. All of the news crews were escorted to the parking lot with a lot of kicking and screaming about their rights. I wandered farther in and had my gun locked open so I could go inside the building. When I came out they saw me coming and lowered the cameras, I thanked them and backed out of the area so they could not see my license plate.

You must know Tucson is also a sanctuary city?

It's 15 days wait on used guns and they don't hit the shelf before the period is up for TPD to check for the serial number to come up stolen. The "waiting period" is on the gun, NOT the buyer - you will never see it. I worked at Firearm Catalog Showroom and Jensen's West in Tucson back in the day, for reference. ;)
Yes, AZ has not only complete firearms preemption, but we can hold the individual cities/political subdivisions financially liable for violating that rule, though a bill making that stronger failed this year. Also we have the only knife preemption law in the nation.
Tucson is not a "sanctuary city" - AZ state law requires cities and other political subdivisions to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. We did that because Phoenix was waving it's "sanctuary city" status in the rest of the state's face and we took it away from them. Tucson and Phoenix ARE full of both Calirefugees and Chicago expats, and it shows, badly. They always go Demonrat and the rest of the state says no. This is why AZCDL was pushing a bill to require a specific percentage of voters in each county to approve voter initiatives, instead just bare state majority, as half the state lives inside the two cities. Yes, AZCDL is an outstanding organization and yes I am a member as well as Life Member of the NRA.

Sir. you are very lucky you didn't come to know me professionally after that - aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Please do not EVER do that again, it is a felony and will get you a few years behind bars. You got VERY lucky, very lucky indeed, no idea why the news crew didn't call sympathetic TPD to come arrest you on the spot.
We got a few more pro rights bills signed into law this year, including a first ever reform of asset forfeiture, a HUGE scam if I ever heard one, and a strict adherence to Constitutionality of voter initiatives, as well as no "tracking by electronic device" for firearms transfers, both a huge slap in the face of Bloomberg and that now $45 billion dollar johnson he keeps waving around. We are number one in the country for firearms right 3 years running, and aim to keep getting better. ;)

I'm glad to hear Tucson and Phoenix are doing their duty where the law is concerned, I was wondering why someone wasn't at least handed a short talk pertaining to brandishing his firearm and I'm glad to hear of other friends of the AZCDL
