Pros
  • Best used gun pricing I've ever seen for some firearms
  • A couple of the folks there are super nice and knowledgeable
Cons
  • Some of the younger crowd working there is elitist, rude, and finally convinced me to stop shopping there
I've purchased a total of 6 or 7 firearms from Murphy's, I think. In general, it's a normal gun shop. Some folks are nice, some ignore you, some are elitist types, but usually not too bad. They do get busy, but will eventually get around to paying attention to you. Their pricing on used guns is some of the best I have seen across 4 states. I'm very happy with all the purchases I made there.

One particular fella is a snot. Every time I've been in. Appears to have no time for anyone but himself and whatever high and lofty thing he's working on or doing at the moment, even if that high and lofty thing is just standing behind the counter doing nothing. He doesn't like explaining much of anything and seems like he'd rather just snatch your firearm out of your hand and walk away with it - without telling you what he's doing - than to answer questions or help someone learn a thing.
Last time I shopped there, I finally handed back the products I'd gathered to buy, and told another fella behind the counter that I'd be back if they ever fired that guy or trained him to stop being a jerk.

Haven't been back since, and my wallet appreciates that.:s0112: Man, they had some good prices on used guns!

Anyone in Phoenix area should check out Arizona Firearms on University and Priest. They have a big selection of firearms and have great prices.

Pros
  • Excellent selection of guns and ammo.
Cons
  • Depending on who’s working the guys can be kinda know it all types. Not in a good way.
When I go in I usually will watch and listen to employees before I choose which one to talk to. The good employees are great to talk with. The bad apple or maybe two is easy enough to spot and avoid. Lol

I still love Murphy's gun shop though.

Pros
  • They can get most anything made.
Cons
  • Sometimes it is busy which is good for them.
I have purchased new and used from them. I was lucky a while back and they had a Armalite AR10A with a lot of accessories that I just had to have. I decided to have them order a AeroTech for me in 10mm. Their delivered price was actually a bit less than what I had found it for elsewhere.
Knowledge of the staff is second to none.
One of my favorite toy stores when I have spending cash.

Not really a gun store per se, although they do have a couple rifles there for sale, but Bruno Shooters Supply is where I usually go for any of my shooting supplies, reloading materials. They seem to follow the trend where their in store pricing matches their internet pricing which makes them extremely competitive as a store front location. They are family owned and operated, Lester (the old man) runs his gunsmith business out of there. He also still competes in matches. Jason runs the counter as far as I know, and is always a pleasure to deal with. They have actions there for purchase, a large inventory of barrels, and more.

If you buy their powder specials, you can get better deal and they usually do stock a variety,of powder.I buy the Kroil oil, that they sell, which not many places do,it is well known for stuck bolt removal,as someone that has used it?

Pros
  • Good selection, good prices...
I have purchased a couple of firearms from AJI. They have a good balance of tactical and other firearms. They also have some older/classic rifles, as well as vintage military rifles (WWII). The prices seem to be good - better in some cases than other shops.

I moved to Mesa in 2007 from Flagstaff and didn't really have any gun nut friends to tell me where the good gun stores were located. Being that I was here to get my engineering degree I also didn't have a lot of free time to wonder around and find a good shop. So from 2007 through 2010 I was "just browsing" the regions shops. My reason for not buying was a combination of outrageous prices, sketchy (often pawn shop) or rude employees, or selection of guns that just didn't do it for me.

Then I stumbled upon Pistol Parlour which was very close to where I live. I missed finding P.P. all these years as they are a very small shop in a location that doesn't jump out and grab your attention. There employees are nice, know what they are talking about with out coming off as know-it-alls and their selection is in line with my tastes: military style weapons. Prices are very close to the lowest prices on the net plus I feel good paying my taxes (we don't have property taxes here) and supporting people I like without ripping me off in return. My only complaints are sometimes it can get busy and crowded and their selection is good but limited to the small retail space.

So in 2011 I bought my first 1911 and two saiga rifles from Pistol Parlour. I have bought holsters and clips for my 1911 from them at lower prices than on the net (when you consider shipping and junk "warehouse fees"). Their selection of 1911s range from $400 up to about $1300. Considering the proximity to "the hood" I think that price range is good. If I wanted to slobber over a Wilson Combat I will make the drive up to Scottsdale Gun Club. I was happy to have found this shop I was looking for all these years.

Parking sucks. They can be busy, especially on the weekends.
But, service is decent, selection is good, and I haven't had a problem with them in 20 years.

Don't let my "Average" rating fool you. Their service is great, and their pricing is fantastic.
The reason they only get 3/5, is because they only have 2 phone lines for the entire store (it can take 3-4 hours to get through), they usually only have 2 people at the counter, they cater more to mall ninjas than serious shooters, their revolver selection is absolutely terrible, and they don't carry much in the way of reloading supplies (even though they advertise that they stock reloading gear and supplies).

But, most of all... parking SUCKS!!!

Pros
  • Knowledgeable,
  • Great prices
  • friendly
  • actually enjoy the sport of shooting with hands on experience
  • Veteran owned store
Can't say enough about the guys who work at and own this store. They take the time to talk to you and make you feel important. A veteran owned store is a huge plus with hands on experience from the love of guns. If you are looking to do a transfer or purchase your first gun I would highly recommend giving the guys at Elite a shot.

Pros
  • Great place to shop. Friendly staff.
This is a great place to shop. The staff is friendly and they will treat you right. Al (the owner) is personable - he will work with you, give you different options, and help you find what you need. I have purchased two pistols there, an AR-15 lower, as well as some other parts to complete my first AR-15 build. Stop in and check it out. The prices on the tags are MSRP, but no one pays that (unless you are family, or Al doesn't like you :) ). He usually has some of the harder to find tactical firearms in stock.

I bought a Win M70 Safari Express here 2 years ago after an uphill search online

The lady who runs the gun counter ( I'm sorry I don't remember her name) was extremely knowledgeable and had my rifle in the back.

They were all helpful in finding scope bases, the SE has a different screw hole pattern in the Magnum receiver and gave me the Veteran discount on top of the price they had on the rifle.

This is my local gun store of choice , family owned and operated , friendly and knowledgeable. Good pricing not great but good (support small business) anything you want that they don't have , they will get for you. Sometimes on my way home I will stop by just to say hi and smell the new guns !

  • Clean, well run, inexpensive, safety is paramount, user friendly and great view of Las Vegas by nigh
Cons

I've never seen a safer, friendlier, more well run, well lit range since I left the Army in 1968. A bargain.
